Growing Smaller as a Team

After moving away from my host family at the end of June, I’ve been going from one place to the next – saying good-bye to some and nice-to-meet-you to others. My dear German teammates left for their homes on the 4th of July. Our parting was tearful. We had been knitted together through the rich and sometimes difficult journey of being immersed in Ivorian life. Ten months allowed three cultures to intersect – for the purpose of knowing Jesus and sharing His glory with others.

A few days before their departure, we spent time on the coast – swimming at the beach, worshipping through singing and prayer, eating ice-cream, recounting stories and memories, and playing games. It was a sweet and sorrowful good-bye, as they often are.
